Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has said that he will recommend a preferred candidate to succeed him in the 2027 governorship election, but the final decision will be made by the people of the state.
The governor explained that although he may support or suggest someone he believes is fit for the job, it is ultimately up to voters in Oyo State to choose their next leader through the ballot.
He also warned that if the wrong candidate is elected, the consequences will affect the state for the full four-year term. According to him, this makes it important for voters to carefully consider their choice before going to the polls.
Makinde made these remarks while speaking on the importance of responsible voting and democratic decision-making. He emphasized that leadership decisions should not be taken lightly, as they have a direct impact on governance, development, and the well-being of citizens.
The governor’s statement highlights the significance of the 2027 elections in Oyo State and the role of voters in shaping the future leadership of the state.
