A political aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State has come under public scrutiny after official records reportedly showed that he is far younger than previously believed.
The aspirant, identified as Mahmud Sadisu Buba, who is popularly known as Abin Al’ajabi, had been seeking to contest the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency seat.
However, documents linked to his passport and National Identification Number (NIN) reportedly indicate that he was born in 2010, which contradicts earlier claims suggesting he is about 30 years old.
The development has raised serious concerns about his eligibility to contest for public office, as Nigerian electoral laws require candidates to meet a minimum age requirement before running for legislative positions.
Buba had recently appeared before the APC screening committee, where aspirants are assessed ahead of party primaries. His appearance attracted public attention due to his physical stature and growing media interest.
Prior to the controversy, he was also seen in photographs with several high-profile political figures, including President Bola Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and some state governors.
Following the release of the document details, the situation has sparked widespread debate and backlash, with questions being raised about candidate screening processes and how such discrepancies were not identified earlier.
Party officials are expected to review the matter further as part of the ongoing screening and verification process for aspirants ahead of the next election cycle.
