The Edo State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress has officially announced the commencement of its party primaries for the 2026 electoral cycle, marking a significant step in the party’s preparations for upcoming national and state elections.
According to an official bulletin released on May 27, 2026, the primaries are scheduled to hold on Thursday, May 28, 2026, across various constituencies in Edo State and other parts of the country.
The announcement, issued under the directive of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), informed all members and aspirants to prepare for the exercise and remain available within their constituencies ahead of the primaries.
The party primaries will cover major elective positions, including:
- House of Assembly
- House of Representatives
- Senate
- Governorship
Party officials stated that venue details for the primaries would be communicated through Local Government Area (LGA) party chairmen across the state.
The leadership of the NDC Edo State Chapter encouraged all aspirants and party members to participate peacefully and uphold democratic values throughout the exercise.
Political observers believe the primaries will play a critical role in shaping the party’s strength and strategy ahead of the general elections, especially in Edo State where political activities have intensified in recent months.
The notice was jointly endorsed by the State Chairman, Engr. David Olukoga, and the State Secretary, Peter Ajube.
